/ world today news/ For the fifth day, terracing continues in order to strengthen the slope of the main road E-79 in the Kresnen Gorge, which came off on March 5. The mined material is transported with LOT-4 filling gondolas on the “Struma” Sandanski-Kulata highway.
After the right side of the landslide that took place on March 5 collapsed, the same thing started on the left side – from the side of the small tunnel. Yesterday, a temporary road was laid there as well, with which the breaking of the rocks hanging over the road with a backhoe hammer began. Hundreds of cubic meters were removed from the right slope, the one from Simitli.
The lot from Sandanski to Kulata, for which the aggregates are loaded on gondolas and transported for bulk works, was taken over by the Blagoevgrad company “Agromakh”. Since the contract with the Greek company “Actor” has not been terminated, the Blagoevgrad company is completing it as a “service provider”. The term was explained personally by Minister Liliana Pavlova.
The rock mass between the landslide and the bypass road, which carries traffic through the main road in the southwest, has also been almost scraped off. This rock mass is also used for embankments of LOT-4. It requires hundreds of thousands of cubic meters of land mass. Most of it is supplied precisely from the clearing of the landslide and rock in the Kresnen gorge.
After the stabilization of the weather, the most large-scale collapse of the Kresna gorge will begin, all dangerous sections have been inspected, only the financing is expected.
