Tied at the break, the MHB accelerated what was needed at the beginning of the second period to win against Cesson-Rennes (30-23), in its first game after the international break, Friday 15 November at FDI Stadium.
For a good 20 minutes, the inhabitants of Montpellier probably thought they would have to fight hard to overcome a Cesson-Rennes side in rather good form of late. A loss to the British at the end of the international session, when there were eleven internationals on deck and the cursed Kyllian Villeminot injured until the end of the season, would have been a blemish.
But none of that happened, quite the opposite. Thanks to a good start in the second period, Valentin Porte’s teammates got their season back on track, almost two weeks after a bad loss in Paris (29-23).
Starligue: ranking and results of the tenth day
“Clearly, we can be satisfiedhe smiled at Érick Mathé, MHB coach, after the game. For us, the challenge was to reconnect after this break because it is not easy with eleven players on the move. We knew that the beginning of the game was going to be a bit more difficult but we had the confidence to improve our game, I am obviously more satisfied with the second period.
“The game was played over five minutes”
And for good reason, the second act between the first two defenses of the tournament before the meeting turned clearly for the best, that’s MHB With 5-0 went to the British in just five minutes (17-12, 35th ), Montpellier had plenty of time to see what was coming and punish his opponent in the evening as the minutes ticked by.
“The game was decided in those five minutes, known Sébastien Leriche, coach of Cesson-Rennes. That’s what separates a great team that plays in Europe and a team like ours. As long as we don’t come out of the locker room, we can’t compete against a team like that.”
Desbonnet is found
First thanks to Ahmed Hesham who was found a long distance after his more frightening performance in Paris at the beginning of November But also to Sebastian Karlsson lethal on his right wing, taking over from Yanis Lenne wonderfully in check in the first period (0. /3).
And above all, Rémi Desbonnet found in the cages of Montpellier, according to what he has just achieved with the French team during the break.
Rotations, that’s not there yet
The only downside to this evening in the end (again) was the rounds. Bryan Monte is still a mess and Djordje Cikusa is a shadow of the new right back he was at the start of the season.
“I don’t care more than thathe opposed Mathé when he was talking about tours. Yes, I expect more from Djordje because he is doing good things in training. But he is still a young player and even if he only rests Valentin Porte for ten minutes, he is still good.
