Pami builds a printer to make furniture

The office furniture producer based in Pelt Pami has concluded an exclusive cooperation agreement with the Dutch Triboo and Colossus Printers from Oudsbergen. Together they make round and 3D printed furniture.

In Europe, 11 million tonnes of furniture are thrown away every year. 90 percent of this is burned or thrown on the waste mountain. Only 10 percent is recycled. Marc van der Heijden, director of Triboo in Zevenhuizen (The Netherlands) and William de Ceulaer, CCO of Colossus Printers in Oudsbergen, believe that things should be different and have been working together for some time to make durable furniture. They use residual streams for this, and they reuse 100 percent as raw materials. They do this together under the Never-Ending-Furniture brand name.

Designer Pelt and office furniture maker Pami are now also jumping on the bandwagon. At the Orgatec ’24 fair in Cologne, Pami, Triboo and Colossus Printers announced a close partnership. “With this we are taking a revolutionary step towards authentic, sustainable office design,” says Bart Driessen, CCO Pami.

In practice, Pami will use Triboo desks and table tops made from recycled material in her design and production, and she will use 3D printers from Colossus to create furniture pieces from waste streams. This could include plastics such as polypropylene, PET and rPET, but also carbon, hemp, paper and cardboard. The new furniture made from recycled materials then finds its way to customers across Europe. A product line that is in high demand, according to the founders, and therefore provides an economic boost to both parties.
