The transportation company J&R Schugel celebrated half a century of operations by receiving a Kenworth T680, specially designed to support the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization.
This one-of-a-kind truck, intended as a tribute to the service and sacrifices of veterans, was delivered to the Kenworth plant in Chillicothe, Ohio. Additionally, during the ceremony, Wisconsin Kenworth dealership donated a check for $25,000 to DAV, strengthening the impact of this collaboration.
Courtney Antonsen, Director of Human Resources at J&R Schugel, noted: “Our Kenworth T680 truck will travel across the country as a symbol of appreciation and dedication to those who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. “We also appreciate Wisconsin Kenworth’s generous contribution, which will fund vital services for veterans and their families.”
Since its founding in 1974, the J&R Schugel company has maintained a philosophy focused on its employees, customers and community. This employee-owned company operates more than 700 trucks. The majority of its vehicle fleet is made up of Kenworth T680 trucks with advanced technology. These vehicles are equipped with 76-inch sleepers, a combination of PACCAR MX and Cummins X15 engines, and 12-speed automated transmissions.
According to Kenworth Truck Co., the T680 model, introduced in 2021, has been key in the renewal of J&R Schugel’s fleet. According to Antonsen, drivers value the comfort and technology of this truck, which includes a modern cabin with a digital display and features that enhance their experience on the road.
At the handover event, Kevin Haygood, PACCAR deputy general manager for brand sales and marketing, expressed his appreciation for J&R Schugel. “This company not only leads in transportation, but also stands out for its philanthropic initiatives. “Their new themed T680 will help spread DAV’s message across the country.”
