Liabilities for an employee’s loans: A doctor is broke

A dentist from the greater Graz area was responsible for loans taken out by his long-time employee and her family. But payment difficulties arose and this led to the successful dentist having to apply for insolvency proceedings. Nevertheless, the doctor appears combative, and the restructuring administrator also sees a very good chance that the practice can be continued.

An insolvency case was reported from Styria that appears unusual in two respects. On the one hand, there is a dentist who has his practice in the Graz area. On the other hand, it is not about economic problems that have to do with practice.

According to the Credit Protection Association from 1870, the justification for the application for restructuring proceedings without self-administration states that the doctor had assumed liability for loans of more than 700,000 euros to the family of a long-time employee. After defaulting on these credit lines, the banks in question asserted their liability in court. The liabilities were stated at more than 1.8 million euros. Almost 20 creditors and a handful of employees are affected.
