With Thessaloniki counting down to the opening of the Metro, its logo was presented today, Wednesday.
The logo consists of a lowercase “m” in a circle that refers to the subway tunnel. The lowercase letter “m” taken from the Byzantine era comes to capture the history of Thessaloniki and to tie it to the present day through a modern means of mass transportation.
As reported by thestival.gr, the leadership of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure etc. Staikoura and Tahiao, said that the logo can be easily read by foreign tourists as well.
“The transport image of Thessaloniki is changing”
The countdown has begun and as Mr. Staikouras said, in 17 days the metro will start operating, which will change the transport image of Thessaloniki. “A project that is coming to change the everyday life of the city. As the political leadership of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we are working to deliver a high-quality and technically sound project”, stressed Mr. Staikouras, while regarding the logo he stated that “the goal was to create an identity that would give a state-of-the-art project historicity of Thessaloniki. To combine tradition with modern aesthetics and functionality”.
For his part, Mr. Tahiaos emphasized that the logo is essentially the identity of the city, pointing out that subway identities reflect the identity of cities and cited as an example that the New York font comes from the font of the New York subway logo.
