The 27-year-old’s signing in free agency was a huge hit, as Barkley has so far had 1,137 rushing yards, 210 receiving yards and ten touchdowns.
That’s why the Eagles fans took aim at the New York Giants, because the big division rival had let Barkley move to Philadelphia in free agency in the spring.
“Thank you, Giants,” the Eagles supporters chanted, showing their admiration for Barkley and poking fun at the Giants.
“This feels great. It feels great. Last year was a tough year for me mentally,” Barkley said. “I love it here. The city is great. The culture here is fantastic. But the most important thing is that we won. There is still a lot to improve. I can also get better at a lot of things, but at the end of the day it is a great success.”
Giants owner John Mara can’t sleep
Giants owner John Mara probably doesn’t think this is all that great because, as was seen in the documentary “Hard Knocks”, he wanted everything but Barkley moving to the Eagles.
“I won’t be able to sleep if Saquon goes to Philadelphia,” Mara told general manager Joe Schoen in March. “Like I said, I’ve seen a lot of players, but he’s by far the most popular player we have.”
Above all, he was also a top performer in New York. While the Eagles are looking towards the playoffs with an 8:2 record, the Giants have finished the season at 2:8.
