The Minister of Religion claims that the Chancellor likes to go out of town for work: Being a listener and sleeping

Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar sacked chancellors of universities under the Ministry of Religion (Ministry of Religion) who often make business trips outside the city without much impact.

Nasaruddin said that national conferences were held almost every week inviting several chancellors. The chancellors were present and funded by state funds.

“Every week there is a national conference, I run out of money to fly here and there. And being a listener, sleeping, not speaking at a conference .I often watch,” said Nasaruddin at the Ministry of Religion’s National Workshop. in BogorFriday (15/11).

Nasaruddin said there are already several technologies such as Zoom teleconferencing. According to him, the chancellors can still be present to provide knowledge without spending money on official trips.

He said that President Prabowo Subianto had confirmed that he would cut the official travel budget in half. Nasaruddin asked his subordinates to reduce unnecessary official travel.

“It is difficult that we should use the funds of the Ministry of Religion to support poor, needy people, for education, whose schools are in a bad state,” he said.

Nasaruddin also criticized a rector at a university in Malang who had just gone on an official trip abroad without notifying the Ministry of Religion. He asked all officers from the Ministry of Religion and the universities under it to report before they serve abroad.

“Middle-level officials, whoever they are, cannot go on official trips abroad without the permission of the minister. That is the order of Mr. President,” said Nasaruddin.
