This is what Dreger had to say:
“Yes, Adams is willing to consider something bigger, but he is not looking to trade one of the NHL’s best young talents.”
DOMESTIC TRADE…
– NHL trade talks intensify
– The sheet of leaves will help Matthew recover.
– Caufield’s opportunity to play in the 4 Nations
– Expanded list of 4 nations rejected
– Concerns about limited training days and risk of injuries next seasonFURTHER: pic.twitter.com/c8NhVinfXY

Adams is understandably open to a big move right now. Looking at his team, there is no doubt they could do with another proven back six and a strong right back.
Patience
Additionally, Adams understandably doesn’t want to part ways with any of his key NHL players. The Sabers are currently looking to break their 13-year playoff drought, so trading an NHL staple doesn’t make sense for them right now.
The Sabers have a solid group of prospects and draft picks to work with to make a potential impact. It will be interesting to see if they do it from here.
