The San Diego Fair reaches its peak: the weekend’s proposals

The Fair and Festivals in honor of San Diego de Alcalá of Cuevas del Almanzora face their most intense days: the weekend. During these days, the festivities will reach their maximum splendor, filling the streets of the municipality with music and good energy and attracting both its own inhabitants and visitors from other towns looking for fun in which the cycle of festivities will close throughout the region.

Last Tuesday, November 12, the festive programming began, filling the entire week with activities for all audiences. As it could not be otherwise, the festivities began with the traditional proclamation from the balcony of the City Hall and the inaugural chupinazo.

This year, the proclamation was a matter of Angel Chaconwhom we all already know for his performance in the television program ‘Saber y Ganar’. As he let it be known in an interview on Cadena Ser Levante, his intention for this act was clear, it was intended to reflect his gratitude because the life he has is “thanks to the people I have around me.” There was also children’s proclamationwhich was in charge of Álvaro Martínez, a 6th year student at CEIP Álvarez de Sotomayor.

After the San Diego Fair was officially inaugurated, the coronation gala of holiday mises and later the Formula Abierta concert.

On Wednesday the 13th, the patron’s day, the festive programming continued in the morning with the mass in honor of San Diego de Alcalá and, then, the inauguration of the Midday Fair with the performance of the group Maikel y el Clan.

This Thursday Children’s Day was celebrated with reduced price attractions and the great Festival Remember 90’ in addition to the concert of sounds from the South and different DJs in the Fairgrounds tent.

Now to face the weekend, the Friday will be one of the most anticipated moments for all Cuevanoswith the performance of Rumba Kimbao in the afternoon, and at night, of Kaliqueños, Mezcaleros and later, the highlight of these parties, the concert of Medina Azahara, with one of his last concerts after announcing his retirement in 2025.


Saturday will be another of the big days in which in the afternoon there will be brass bands and a performance by the Aire Flamenco group. At night Reconversión and Raya Real will perform and, in addition, at 00:00 it will be the
fireworks pyromusical.

On Sunday, to say goodbye to the San Diego 2024 Fair, La Espartera will perform at noon, and children will be able to enjoy themselves at 6:00 p.m.
