Farmers are, once again, called to mobilization, by several unions. France Bleu Mayenne gives them the floor this Friday, November 15, with an interview with the Prime Minister not to be missed Michel Barnier between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. in My France.
Despite all the constraints and the difficult context, young people from Mayenne want to get into breeding. This is the case of Jeyson Gruau, 23 years old, today an agricultural employee on a dairy cow farm in Châtillon-sur-Colmont. Next September, he will have his own farm in Nord-Mayenne and he is not so afraid of launching into the middle of an agricultural crisis, with in particular a reduction in the consumption of dairy products and the drop in collection by certain companies like Lactalis.
“There is still quite a bit of demand for cow’s milk, so for me we will always manage to get through it, predicts the future farmer. Afterwards, it’s always the same thing, it’s the price of milk, it must be better valued among breeders.”
“If there is no response, it will go up”
For Jeyson Gruau, breeders have an interest in better communicating with consumers about the price of milk, their cost, and their remuneration. The future breeder will participate in actions Young Farmers starting this Sunday. “We have to be united among ourselves. It’s very important. If there is no response, it will go up and up and it will have to move forward.”
The end of the year will be busy before 2025. Jeyson Gruau will start working on his future farm in May with a sponsorship internship in the company of farmers who will pass on their farm. If all goes well, on September 1, the young Mayennais will officially become a farmer.
