Samsung SDI demonstrated the technology of various PRiMX (Primax) batteries, including electric vehicle batteries, ESS (energy storage system) batteries, and cylindrical batteries.
Samsung SDI announced that it has won four ‘CES Innovation Awards’ ahead of ‘CES 2025‘, the world’s largest electronics exhibition, to be held in Las Vegas, USA in January next year. This is Samsung SDI’s first time exhibiting products at CES, and all representative products from each battery business division received awards.
The Innovation Award is given annually to products that demonstrate innovative technology in the industry through evaluation by judges. Samsung SDI received the Innovation Award for receiving high praise in performance areas directly related to customer experience, such as improved energy density, enhanced safety, high output, and fast charging technology.
Samsung SDI’s four winning products are ‘PRiMX680-EV’, ‘PRiMX680 Module+’, ‘SBB (Samsung Battery Box) 1.5’, and ‘PRiMX50U-Power’.
First, ‘PRiMX680-EV’ is a prismatic battery for electric vehicles that uses high-nickel NCA (nickel, cobalt, aluminum) anode material to achieve high energy density, and is a product that achieves both safety and performance by applying innovative design and process technology. ‘PRiMX680 Module+’ is an electric vehicle battery module that enhances production efficiency and quality by simplifying the structure by applying wireless communication technology. This product has maximized safety through unique module design and CT inspection.
‘SBB 1.5’ is an ESS product that installs battery cells, modules, and racks in a 20-foot container box, and can be used immediately by simply connecting to the power grid. This product improves safety by applying EDI (Enhanced Direct Injection) technology to prevent heat diffusion. ‘PRiMX50U-Power’ is a 21700 size cylindrical battery that implements high output and fast charging technology and is specialized for applications that require high instantaneous power, such as professional power tools.
