Forecast for the period 15 – 21 November

After the short-term cooling during the past seven-day period, the agro-meteorological conditions will undergo a significant change in the next one. By the end of the second and the beginning of the third ten days of November, they will be determined by average day-night temperatures above the climatic norms and above the biological minimum necessary for the vegetation of winter cereal crops
During the period, significant precipitation and no change in the levels of autumn moisture reserves is expected. The rainfall during the past period is unevenly distributed. In many places in the northwestern regions, in the Upper Thracian lowland and in the extreme southern parts of the country, precipitation below 10-12l/m² was recorded – extremely insufficient to overcome the moisture deficit in winter cereal crops.
In some of the eastern regions (Razgrad, Ruse, Silistra, Sliven, Karnobat) significant precipitation fell – over 25-30 l/m². In these areas, there was an improvement in the moisture reserves in the upper soil layers and in the conditions for the vegetation of autumn crops.
During the next period, different phases will be observed for wheat – germination, sprouting (farm stations: Knezha, Nikolaevo, Kazanlak, Plovdiv, Haskovo, Yambol) and formation of 1-2 and 3 leaves (Novachene). The differences in the phenological state of the winter cereal crops are due to the prolonged autumn drought and late sowing.
During the period, the conditions will be suitable for planting fruit trees and for carrying out phytosanitary activities for fruit crops.
