M5S, the anti-Grillo question for the Constituent Assembly revealed: “Eliminate the role of the Guarantor?”

The document summarizing the questions that will be put to the vote of the Constituent Assembly from 21 to 24 November has been published on the 5 Star Movement website. Twelve sections, with different questions for each theme that emerged in the debate of the working groups and already summarized in a report: from the elimination of the role of the guarantor, to the modification of the ceiling of the two mandates, passing through the position within the parliamentary arc, up to the theme of alliances and the modification of the symbol.

Above, the proposals on changes relating to the roles of the president and the guarantor. On the position held by Beppe Grilloat point 3 of twelve, option A reads: “eliminate the role of the Guarantor”. In option C, “in case of maintenance of the role of guarantor”, various proposals are listed from which members will be able to choose and which all provide for a modification of the role: ranging from the duration of 4 years for the position, up to the transformation of the figure in “exclusively honorific role”.

Point 4 remains on Grillo’s powers and asks: “Do you agree to simplify the procedure for amending the Statute by eliminating the Guarantor’s right to request a repetition of the vote?”.

As regards the modification of the symbol, in point 7, members are asked whether they agree on overcoming the consultation between the guarantor and the president. In the proposal to revise the Statute put forward to the members, the national council would decide on the modification of the mark “on proposal of the President or the Guarantor”. One or the other, then.

From questions that require a quorum of the absolute majority of members, we move on to those without a quorum. In point 9, members are asked whether or not they intend to change the two-term limit. Among the options to choose from in the event of a change, the extension of the three-term limit and the exemption for regional presidents or mayors.

For positioning within the parliamentary spectrum, two options: declare oneself a “progressive” force, with various options and internal nuances ranging from “independent progressives” to the term “left-wing force”; or “not declaring any positioning, deemed reductionist, and maintaining the historic distance from the right and the left”.

At the last point, the 12th, the theme of alliances, with a binary proposal: prohibit any form of alliance or condition alliances on various factors to choose from, from sharing a programmatic agreement to the elaboration of a document of M5s values ​​”not negotiable to be signed by political forces that intend to form an alliance”.
