There is no train traffic in Central Holland during the morning rush hour due to the ProRail strike

NOS newstoday, 04:30

Due to a strike at ProRail in Central Holland, no trains will run in that area until 9am. However, the concern is not only to the strike zone. Fewer trains are also running on several surrounding routes due to the strikes. Passengers to and from Schiphol, Leiden, Deventer and Almere, among others, may also be inconvenienced.

ProRail is on strike at traffic control centers in Utrecht and Amersfoort. As many train connections run through the center of the Netherlands, the impact of the strike is extremely important. The strike is also affecting freight transport by rail.

After 9 am, the NS will resume the timetable in Central Holland, but the NS reports that passengers must take into account disruptions and train cancellations during the morning. NS had previously said that ProRail workers have the right to strike, but “sad of the inconvenience this is causing to passengers.”

A better cooperation contract

ProRail traffic managers are fighting for a better collective bargaining agreement. The FNV trade union wants ProRail workers to get a pay rise of more than 15 percent, but ProRail says that is not the case. The company is offering a pay increase of up to almost 8 percent. ProRail workers affiliated with the CNV trade union have agreed to this.

There will be a strike next week as well. On Monday in the regions of Rotterdam, The Hague and Roosendaal, on Tuesday in the regions of Eindhoven and Maastricht and on Friday in the regions of Zwolle, Groningen and Arnhem. The times for these activities are not yet known. ProRail must announce when the strike will take place no later than 48 hours in advance.
