Dr. Ezz Al-Arab pointed out that Egypt has suffered from this disease for many years and centuries, and now the people of Egypt, numbering 100 million, have proven that they are successful in eradicate this dreaded disease.
Egypt is the third country in the region to receive this qualification after the United Arab Emirates and Morocco, and the first country to achieve this since 2010.
At the global level, Egypt joined a list of 44 countries and regions that are capable of eliminating malaria.
Malaria eradication certificate
In a related context, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, announced that obtaining the malaria eradication certificate represents the beginning of a new phase and not the end the journey
He explained that continuous commitment is needed by strengthening monitoring, diagnosis and treatment systems, as well as using integrated weed control management and maintaining efforts to prevent the return of the disease.
