Since the law of May 21, 2024 aimed at securing and regulating the digital space, it has been decided: porn sites must carry out mandatory age checks on their visitors before letting them access their content. How will Internet users be able to prove their majority? In a technical reference, published in the Official Journal on October 22, the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (Arcom) identified a series of minimum requirements, reliable and respectful of privacy, that all systems of age verification chosen by these publishers will have to be respected from January 22, 2025. To give the sector time to adapt, this deployment will however be gradual: Arcom will be satisfied for three months with verification by bank card, by example via a 0 euro payment. A device supposed to discourage minors.
