DORDRECHT – On the website of the STOLPERSTEINE foundation, attention is drawn to tours through Jewish Dordrecht. This can be done all year round. The Grote Markt area used to be called the Jewish area. The synagogue. the bath house and the school were famous parts.
In the Town Hall you will find a monument bearing the names of the Jewish residents of Dordrecht who were murdered during the Second World War. This year, DFC trainer Arpad Weisz got a street name in the Weizigtpark. In January 2023, the last rabbi of Dordrecht, Katan, was given a place as a general memorial at Essenhof.

Dordrecht: all year round
You can do it all year round: book a private tour through Jewish Dordrecht. This special tour takes about an hour and a half and costs 12.50 euros per person. There must be at least six participants.
The tour is one of many that owner Remy Balistreri has been organizing for some time. Its main mission is ‘Discover Dordrecht’. To get to know Dordrecht, it offers a wide range of city tours, themed tours and culinary tours. Examples are: Highlights of Dordrecht, Hidden Pearls of Dordrecht, Dark Dordrecht, Water and Walking, Dordrecht on Canvas, Gardens and Mansions, Street Art & Street Art and Women of Dordrecht.
The walk through Jewish Dordrecht also relates to the Second World War. The ‘Discover Dordrecht’ website has this explanation: “Find traces of the Second World War in Dordrecht as you walk through this great city. The guide will take you through stories, monuments, anecdotes and memories that make the city’s Jewish history and war history visible. From Stolpersteineto the former synagogue, from resistance fighters to an old barracks. This tour will provide a historical insight into the course of the Second World War in Dordrecht, with personal stories of the residents of Dordrecht during the interwar period.”
