London (EFE).- Three women who worked for the Harrods department store in London accuse a brother of Mohamed al Fayed, former owner of the establishment, of sexual assault, as revealed this Thursday by the public entity BBC.
The women said Salah Fayed, the late Egyptian tycoon’s younger brother, abused them in London, France and Monaco between 1989 and 1997, when he was chairman of Harrods.
One of them said that she believes she was raped by Salah Fayed, who died in 2010 from pancreatic cancer, after being drugged.
According to the BBC, Harrods said in a statement that these new accusations raise “serious suspicions” about Al Fayed’s brother and reveal the extent of the crimes perpetrated by the former owner of the department store, against whom more than 400 testimonies have already been collected. of sexual crimes.
One claims Al Fayed raped her in a Dubai hotel
One of the three women, identified as Helen, explained that Al Fayed raped her in a Dubai hotel and months later placed her as personal assistant to his brother, who attacked her after drugging her.
“(Al Fayed) shared me with his brother,” Helen told the BBC.
On October 31, the Justice for Harrods Survivors group explained that the first formal letter of complaint has already been sent to the store, which represents “the beginning of the legal process.”
According to the lawyers representing the group, the majority of the 421 testimonies received refer to cases that occurred in “the context of Harrods”, although others have also been recorded from the Fulham football club or the Ritz hotel in Paris, of which Al Fayed was also the owner.
The BBC recently aired a documentary that revealed the extent of Al Fayed’s abuse of Harrods employees and since then at least 40 women have contacted the Police to report that they suffered sexual harassment by the businessman since 1977.
