“The opening of the Astoria cinema is a key step forward in our expansion strategy. This new establishment reinforces our presence in Catalonia and marks the beginning of a process of sustained growth, with the expectation of opening three more stores before the end of the year,” says the co-founder and director of operations of Deleito, Gerard Moreno. Although the objective is to continue expansion, at the moment the brand has five stores in Catalonia: two in Barcelona, on Calle Sagués, 16, and on Calle París, 193; one in Hospitalet de Llobregat, on Vilanova Avenue, 116; one in Llafranc, on Francesc de Blanes street, 10, and another in Sant Cugat, on Francesc Macià walk, 16.
An almost centenary cinema
Beyond the gastronomic offering of the new location, the space has a lot of history behind it. The new restaurant will be located inside the Astoria cinema, which was opened in 1934 by film entrepreneur Modest Castañé Lloret. Over the years, Astoria became one of the reference cinemas in Barcelona and a meeting point for culture lovers thanks to the sound and audiovisual quality of its rooms. However, in 1999 it closed and since then it has not raised its shutters again, until now. Although renovations have been made, the eqDeleito team has assured that They wanted to preserve the essence of the old cinema, which is why they have maintained classic elements such as the stage, the box office and the screens.
