Putin moves his troops from Donbass to the borders with NATO ᐉ News from Fakti.bg – World

If a quick ceasefire agreement is signed between Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin will order his troops to move from eastern Ukraine to NATO borders, focus.de reports, citing the Estonian Defense Ministry.

NATO countries that are next to Russia are concerned about a possible peace deal in Ukraine. Vladimir Putin can use this to strengthen himself strategically. Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur warned that “hundreds of thousands of troops” could be withdrawn from eastern Ukraine and moved to the border with NATO countries if a cease-fire is reached.

These troops could allow Russia to attack Ukraine again or threaten NATO members. A ceasefire would put Russia in a strong position to rebuild its forces, military experts say.

Donald Trump could propose that Ukraine will not join NATO for 20 years while the US continues to provide weapons to deter Russia from further attacks. This decision would freeze the front lines between Russia and Ukraine and create a demilitarized zone, contradicting the “victory plan” proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky. “Any quick solution to the war will be a loss for Ukraine,” Zelensky said.

Estonia and other Baltic states fear that Russia could significantly increase its military presence in their region. Therefore, NATO must build a strong deterrent to ensure that Russia would never be willing to launch an attack against the alliance.

Russia considers the area around the Baltic Sea to be strategically important. Kaliningrad in particular, located between NATO members, remains a critical point. The Baltic fleet is based there and other military capabilities can be used against NATO territory.
