Users are critical of innovations and point out the need for manual fast-forwarding

Google’s video subsidiary YouTube is testing an algorithm in its app that is already used by rivals like TikTok – a kind of endless video stream. If the user swipes up in a running video in full screen mode, a new clip is immediately played. However, if the user swipes down, the previous content appears.
Dynamic instead of static
This user experience is not only found on TikTok, but is also already standard on Facebook and its Reels. Previously, on YouTube, when you swiped up, additional videos were only displayed as suggestions for selection, but were not played automatically.
The user community, however, is critical of the planned innovation on YouTube. From their point of view, the swipe function currently being tested clashes with the previous gestures. YouTube does not save previous progress on a video when a new one is started. This requires manual rewinding when calling up again.
