The objective of opening this base is to “militarily contain” Russia‘s potential, said Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov.
Speaking to reporters in Moscow, Peskov said Wednesday that Russia will take action in response to the opening of a US missile defense base in Poland.

The military base, which houses the Aegis Ashore anti-missile system, is part of the “US European anti-missile shield.” and was designed more than a decade ago during Barack Obama’s presidency to supposedly counter Iran’s nuclear program.
