Content/criticism
Sometimes everything goes wrong somehow. If you are affected by it yourself, it is of course very annoying. But if you look at the whole thing as an uninvolved observer, it can be quite fun. An example of this is the animated short film Hurricane. He tells how a simple man wants to order a beer at a snack stand and is horrified to discover that it has run out. For most people, this would be a reason to simply move on. After all, the story takes place in Prague, where there are plenty of other options for drinking beer. However, the protagonist has a crush on the woman behind the bar and therefore promises to bring in a new beer keg. It sounds easy, but it isn’t when the trip to the wholesaler turns into an absurd adventure, including daring chases.
It’s all pretty funny, with some occasional violence. What is somewhat strange is that this is similar to the anime classic Porco Rosso the protagonist has a pig’s head, but this is never mentioned, let alone explained. For the depth of content, take a look Hurricane but not on anyway. Director and co-writer Jan Saska I “just” want to chat here. He does it well, it’s fun to rush through the city alongside the title character, always looking for the good wine. The comic-like presentation, completely in black and white, is also visually appealing. The designs are simple but atmospheric, including expressive facial expressions, and the backgrounds are chosen to match. There isn’t much said in the 13 minutes, but there doesn’t have to be. The story is told through visuals alone.
