The holiday Kickstarter has just arrived, and it promises to have you becoming a musician in no time. Named Zefiro, it is a small instrument to connect via USB-C to your iPhone, where you will have to blow into it while pressing the touch screen of the smartphone to play notes.
Zefiro, what is this musical accessory for iPhone?
Thanks to the internet, learning to play an instrument has become ultra-accessible (applications, videos, online courses, etc.). A little gadget, which the crowdfunding campaign recently started on Kickstarter, we plan not to spend too much to buy an instrument.
In a blog post published this November 12, 2024, The Verge has indeed shared a most attractive project: Zefiro. To connect via USB-C to your iPhone, it takes the form of a small vape that you can blow into.
“We have been developing and manufacturing musical instruments for years; all we have to do now is collect pre-orders for our latest creation and begin manufacturing,” shares the Italian start-up behind this device, Artinoise.
Obviously, the product works in combination with an application, so blowing into it without it will be of no use. By launching it, it is possible to choose various instrument sounds (flute, saxophone, trumpet, etc.), then choose the notes by touching the touch screen.
It feels like blowing into a flute, with the tip connected via USB-C to the iPhone and the touch screen replacing the holes. Small interesting points, it can gain in versatility by allowing it to be used as a MIDI controller; and is also compatible with Android smartphones and PCs.
A cheap instrument, and already financed
At the time of writing, the project has been fully funded. It must be said that the company only asked for 5,000 euros. Now at 37,250 euros, there is still until December 13, 2024 to support the project and receive a copy.
Moreover, the Zefiro is available at an exclusive price of 22 euros instead of 42 euros at its launch. A Pro version is also available, and adds an accelerometer for more expressive performance.
Please note, it will not be possible to have this original little instrument for the end of year celebrations. The company announces that deliveries should begin in February 2025.
