At the opening of the food exhibitions in Sofia, Georgi Tahov announced that next year there will be receptions for the modernization of farms and enterprises
In 2025, four are to be opened accepts according to the Strategic Plan, with a total budget of over BGN 860 million, which will be directed to the modernization of agricultural holdings and investments for the processing of agricultural products. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr Georgi Takhov at the opening of the international food exhibitions Mesomania, the Milk Road, Bulpek, Interfood&Drink and Wine&Spirits Show in Inter Expo Center.
Minister Takhov noted that these receptions are expected to contribute to the improvement of infrastructure in farms and to stimulate investments in the processing industry.
In front of the media, Minister Takhov stated that the balance of BGN 125 million according to Ukrainian aid for agricultural producers, it will be paid within the set deadline of November 30, 2024. He announced that the Ministry of Agriculture proposes to include in the budget for 2025 a budget for supporting agricultural holdings under the Temporary Framework for Ukraine in the amount of BGN 650 million , to be spread over two payments. I have asked the Council of Ministers for the continued effect of this measure, he specified.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food welcomes the Bulgarian and foreign companies from the food industry that participate in the exhibition in Sofia. “When traditions meet innovations, then we have a stability in our food security,” said Minister Takhov. He assured the participants in the exhibitions that the Ministry of Agriculture will continue to provide institutional support to food production and processing.
Minister Takhov pointed out that the food industry is a sustainable industry, with about 6,000 enterprises operating in it, providing employment to nearly 90,000 people. The total gross added value for the “Food” and “Beverages” sectors amounts to more than 1,600,000,000 euros and marks a growth of nearly 18% compared to the previous year. The Minister of Agriculture and Food also commented on the sector’s contribution to preserving the health and good nutrition of the Bulgarian population and wished the participants a successful presentation and the creation of new partnerships.
In relation to the proposals of branch organizations related to VAT on bread, Minister Takhov stated: “At the moment, the budget framework is open and proposals can be made, but the last topic regarding tax rates and fiscal meters must go through the National Assembly “.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. David Sukalinski, the Ambassador of Italy Giuseppina Dzara, the Ambassador of the United States Kenneth Merten, the Ambassador of Japan Hisashi Michigami, the Executive Director of BABH Svetlozar Patarinski, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bulgaria also took part in the opening of the international exhibitions. International food exhibitions turn Sofia into a key destination for businesses in the food and beverage sector. This year, over 500 exhibitors from three continents – Europe, North America and Asia – are participating in them.
