BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) — China is ready to take advantage of the 31st APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting to create more opportunities for Asia-Pacific partners with high-quality development and opening-up. high-level, said Lin Jian, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Wednesday.
In response to a question on the matter during a press briefing, the spokesperson said that Asia-Pacific was the most dynamic region and a key driver of global economic growth. The Asia-Pacific region represents a third of the world’s population, more than 60% of the global economy and almost half of global trade.
China is an engine and locomotive for regional cooperation in the Asia-Pacific, the spokesperson said, noting that it is the largest trading partner of 13 APEC economies and contributes 64.2 % of the region’s economic growth, 37.6% of the growth of trade in goods and 44.6% of the growth of trade in services.
It is thanks to the efforts of the countries of this region to follow the dominant trend of peaceful development and oppose the confrontation of blocs and the zero-sum game that the Asia-Pacific was able to create the remarkable “miracle of Asia-Pacific” and become an anchor for world development and stability, Lin noted. “This hard-won result must therefore be all the more appreciated.”
China will work with others to build an Asia-Pacific community with a shared future characterized by openness and inclusiveness, innovative growth, connectivity and win-win cooperation, Lin added.■
