(Montesilvano) “Mission construction site, the title of this missionary Forum, is interesting because it concerns the whole Church. The Church can only be a missionary construction site in order to continue to transmit the gift received”. Monsignor Giuseppe Vegezzi, auxiliary bishop of Milan and member of the Episcopal Commission for the evangelization of peoples and cooperation between the Churches (CEI) participated in the Forum underway in Montesilvano. “Gift and care – he states in this video message, taking up the key themes of the Forum – are two words on the agenda” here in Montesilvano, helping the “reflection on the gift of the Gospel, the good news” to be relaunched every day, “from bring within our Christian communities so that they can then be missionaries themselves”. Monsignor Vegezzi among other things underlines: “Today we find it a little difficult to think about evangelization ad gentes because the Church in Italy and Europe, in our dioceses, is experiencing a moment of contraction” of priestly vocations. And he specifies: “In the recent missionary vigil in Milan, for example, we gave the missionary mandate to 5 people, lay people, religious and a priest, but we welcomed 32 evangelizers, coming from Africa, India, and some Latin American countries” . “There is a message to bring, a gift to share”, he concludes, for which “strength and courage” are needed and it is necessary “to feel sent to every part of the world so that this good news can” reach everywhere and to everyone.
