Before the project is implemented, the people of Malters must vote on it at the ballot box on November 24. On the one hand, this must allow the change of the bedroom and the new building. On the other hand, the granting of building rights on part of the affected building will also be voted on, as well as the special loan for the construction and new expansion of the Muoshof outdoor sports facility at the same time. Because the latter must be moved for construction.

The new retirement and care center is expected to cost around 50.1 million francs. The city should make a contribution of 13.665 million francs to the project, as stated in the corresponding voting message. Of this, 11.5 million is designated as a special loan for the construction project itself. Since the outdoor sports facilities for the construction project must be moved to the Muoshof area, a special loan of 2.165 million is being added.

The construction project allows to use synergies and reduce maintenance costs. At the same time, the quality of the work for the employees would increase: with the contemporary work environment, the care and support of Malters AG would remain competitive, the local council argues.

Even if these and other investments with the community are high at the moment, they can be carried out according to action and financial planning. The current tax rate of 1.95 units should be maintained. (gwa)
