Lydiane Jones, CEO of Bumblehe took the stage at the Webinar 2024 with a clear message: the world needs new ways of connecting and technology, in particular next-generation artificial intelligence could be the answer to the growing global epidemic of loneliness.
In her talk, entitled “Connected in a disconnected world: Tech’s role in tackling loneliness”, Lidiane Jones said that Bumble, more than a dating app, is now a platform for meaningful connections.
For the CEO, we live in a time where social media and the COVID 19 pandemic have given us physical distance, among other things, creating isolation that goes beyond distance.
“We have always believed in healthy connections. We help people to meet online to meet offline”, he explained, arguing that “people need real relationships, not followers”.
And if Bumble was once known as a dating app, today it’s certainly thought of as a company with it mission to “help with real-life connections”, whether for romantic relationships, friendships or professional connections.
With the goal of becoming a connection company and not just a dating company, Bumble has made strategic changes. They recently launched Geneva, a platform focused on creating groups and clubs for offline meetingscurrently being tested in New York and London. Here is a clear example of how the company extends beyond romantic relationships and also invests in communities and interest groups.
AI has “been around forever” and especially on Bumbland was used to improve user experiencehelping them find suitable people more efficiently. Lidiane Jones said she was particularly pleased with theThe potential of generational artificial intelligence to “help people be themselves”fostering real connections.
“We don’t want to replace relationships, but to create more authentic interactions,” he explained.
A digital security is another priority for the company, where AI plays a key role. Lidiane was convinced that Bumble is at the forefront uses facial recognition technology to detect abusive behavior and fake profilesaffirming their commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. “Protecting digital security is and will remain a priority,” he said.
