The city of Munich is making an appeal to all road users. Increased danger is to be expected, especially now.
Munich – The days are short again, the hours of sunshine are rare: The “dark season” is once again dominating the hustle and bustle, especially when there is no ray of sunshine for days or weeks, which can even have a negative impact on the mood. And yet: Even if it is gloomy and cold in the middle of the day, exercise outdoors is always worth it. For many, this is as natural as it is in the summer; cycling in particular is an integral part of everyday life for many Munich residents, even in the dark months.
Die City of Munich has now pointed out the dangers in traffic during the cold months. There is even an option to have your bike checked for free so that you are protected from all dangers.
Important traffic information from the city of Munich for all cyclists and drivers
The main problem during the dark period is the lack of light. “You should therefore pay particular attention now to increasing your own visibility by dressing appropriately and cycling with traffic-safe lighting,” said the city in a recent letter. Drivers are also encouraged to drive more carefully than they already do in the campaign, which is played out via posters, among other things.

“On Thursday and Friday, November 21st and 22nd, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., there will be free bike safety checks on the topic of lights and bike lighting at Odeonsplatz. There, pedestrians and cyclists can also find out about the right clothing to wear in the dark season.” (Source: City of Munich)
Above all, there is one goal: no one should die or be seriously injured in traffic. In order for this to succeed, all Munich residents are asked to actively participate every day in making road traffic safer, the city concluded.
