UMBAL Burgas opened a Study Center, where lectures and exercises will be held for the students of the medical specialties of the University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” – Burgas.
The hospital provides the center entirely for the needs of the state university, which now has nearly 600 medical students.
The educational center has 10 halls, of which 3 lecture halls – equipped with multimedia and 7 for exercises. Each of the halls has its own bathroom, there are also separate dressing rooms.
9 groups of students from the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Public Health and Healthcare, and the College of Medicine can be trained here simultaneously, said Assoc. Dr. Boyko Mirazchiiski, executive director of UMBAL Burgas.
The center is located on the 6th floor of the Surgical Building, on the site of the Vascular Surgery Clinic, which moved to another building. The need for its opening was serious, since until now the hospital only had a large hall – the aula, and the increased number of students and professors, who are also doctors in the hospital, made it difficult or even impossible to schedule lectures in it.
The new rooms will facilitate the work of teachers – doctors and health care specialists, without having to leave the hospital and be separated from the patients.
“Eight years ago, when I motivated before the Council of Ministers the necessity of establishing a Faculty of Medicine in Burgas, I declared that the main educational institution in which the future training of medical students in Burgas will take place is UMBAL Burgas. This is already a fact. UMBAL Burgas is the pillar of medical education in the region. At the moment, the largest number of qualified teachers at our Faculty of Medicine are from UMBAL Burgas. Burgazlii know that here they will not be returned and they will receive quality medical care. On behalf of the citizens of Burgas, and I am their representative, I thank UMBAL Burgas for what it does,” said Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov at the opening of the center today.
“Thanks to Assoc. Mirazchisky, because this is a true visionary. You have done something that will be of great strategic importance. Within the framework of the “Medical Sciences” corps, due to the rapid development of medical specialties at the university, we simply narrowed it down. The accreditation of the Faculty of Pharmacy is knocking on the door. This is the huge advantage of the Burgas State University, that it has such a base, and considering that the students visit the sick every day, they will be prepared after graduation in the best possible way,” comments Prof. Dr. Hristo Bozov, Rector of the University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov”.
The educational center was realized entirely with the funds of UMBAL Burgas. There is an idea for retrofitting it as a simulation and interactive center.
At the moment, 65 doctors – specialists are being trained in the hospital, places have been announced for another 30 people. The hospital is also a desirable employer of the graduating health care specialists, rehabilitators, paramedics, Assoc. Dr. Boyko Mirazchiiski.
The opening of the center and the ceremonial water ceremony were also attended by the director of the RZI Burgas, Dr. Georgi Pazderov, the heads of the medical specialties at the University “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov”, doctors from UMBAL Burgas, teachers and students.
