Los Angeles Sophia Loren to celebrate her 90th birthday with a special evening organized by Cinecittà and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The Italian diva, splendid in an elegant crystal jacket, thrilled the audience by sharing her love for cinema. The evening saw the participation of Eleonora Brown, Loren’s “daughter”. The Ciociaraand by Edoardo Ponti, who paid homage to his mother by underlining her authenticity and strength.

For such an occasion Sophia Loren showed off a jacket covered in gold and silver crystals by Giorgio Armani Private. Get used to seeing her in black and with a scarf around her neck, this time replaced by a diamond necklace, this styling choice makes her reconfirms Italian Diva of excellence.

“That little screen – states the Diva of Naples – it was the window that took me to a more beautiful world, the cinema became my home, and that’s why being here makes me feel at home. Thank you Academy and Cinecittà for this evening. I may be 90 years old, but inside me there is still the little girl who dreamed of a better world, and here tonight we must continue to dream of it”.
Cinecittà celebrates Sophia Loren with Eleonora Brown and an exclusive preview
Cinecittà has prepared two special surprises for the occasion: the presence of Eleonora Brown in the room, (Sophia Loren’s daughter The Ciociara), and the American premiere screening of the episode “Pizzas on Credit” taken from the film l’Gold of Naples Of Vittorio De Sica. Eleonora Brown he expressed his emotions thus: “I met Sophia when I was 11 and we stayed in touch throughout my life, I consider her part of the family. She protected me on set, and I’m here to thank her and tell her how much I love her. Sophia was beautiful on the Ciociara set, always without make-up, an anecdote I remember is when she had to cry and always wanted me close, even if I was off camera she held my hands, she taught me a lot on the set”.

Also present at the ceremony was his son, Edoardo Ponti: “Sophia Loren is the symbol of inner beauty, humanity, delicacy and professionalism like few others. She is a strong woman, like her Naples, very vital even today at 90 years old, with still a great desire to work. Directing it was a dream. The most valuable thing he taught us is discipline. Mom’s true beauty lies in the fact that it is authentic, simple and human with everyone”.
