The Tulsa Ballet arrives from Oklahoma (photo, for the first time at the Comunale in Modena) and the evening it will present on May 15, 2025 is therefore ‘Made in America’. American, of course, but with a pinch of Italian soul: since 1995 in fact the artistic director of the company is Marcello Angelini, originally from Naples, who began his career at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and was then principal dancer at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, at Les Grand Ballet Canadiens in Montreal and at the Cincinnati Ballet. ‘Made in America’ brings together three choreographies that photograph America, a country of emigrants with many formations and many cultural backgrounds. And among the three pieces, the one that is inspired by Italian excellence stands out: ‘Divenire’, choreography by Nicolò Fonte, takes inspiration from the music of Ludovico Einaudi, of which it uses the ever-expanding progressions and repetitive models, involving the dancers in a movement in harmony with powerful natural forces. ‘Classic Symphony’ combines elegance and energy, fusing classical technique with contemporary aesthetics, while ‘Remember our song’ tells of the crew of a submarine who dreams of their loved ones, longing to still have them in their arms.
