The resignations of members in Prefectural Committees and Member Organizations (OM) follow one another. 18 of the 27 members of the Prefectural Committee (NE) of Eastern Attica and 20 of the 31 members of the NE of NE Athens and 20 of the 31 members of the Prefectural Committee of Western Athens have already left. Resignations from organizations continue across the country. On Monday evening (November 11, 2024) it was announced by the staff of Stefanos Kasselakis that 129 members of Keratsini’s SYRIZA-PS organization had left.
The members of OM Keratsiniou who left sign a text which states the following, with their signatures:
“We, the undersigned, are members of SYRIZA to this day and we see with regret that the party we supported is transforming into something disgusting that forces us to leave.
The anti-democratic tactics at the last Congress where the will of the members was defiantly ignored was the final straw. Others were voted by the members as delegates and others found themselves with accreditations in the area while the elected were locked out of the doors of the bouzoukadiko that had been chosen as the venue for the conference. These are phenomena that we have only seen before during the junta and that have never happened before and anywhere in any party except perhaps extreme formations.
Leaving this SYRIZA, as it has become, we will not remain indifferent to the country, democracy and social developments. Hope is born from the ashes and we look to it for Greece to find salvation from the impasse in which an anti-popular government and an ineffective opposition has brought it.
This hope is the popular movement that gathers day by day around Stefanos Kasselakis and gives a perspective to Greece. It is the only hope for the country to change, to keep its children here and reverse the downward spiral it has been in for the last few years.
So we leave with disappointment for the austere party bureaucracy that has reached the ultimate stage of humiliation to maintain chairs, offices and salaries and with hope for the new that is being born (…).
We ask for our immediate deletion from SYRIZA PS members, as well as the deletion of all of our personal information and data with a simultaneous ban on their use.”
