Autism accepted and valued: PizzAut, gastronomic excellence rhymes with social inclusion

VARESE PizzAut is the first restaurant in Europe managed completely by autistic people: hence the announcement of an important new collaboration with TEHA Group and his association no-profit DOT Do One Thing. During the event in Varese which was held at Villa Panza, Nico Acampora, founder of PizzAut – in front of over 100 entrepreneurs, institutions and associations – he shared the vision of an inclusive future where autism is not only accepted, but valued, through concrete work and integration initiatives.

Gastronomic excellence and social inclusion. Since its inception in 2017, PizzAut he is committed to building a model that combines gastronomic excellence and social inclusion. The PizzAut restaurants in Cassina de’ Pecchi and Monza currently employ 41 autistic people. Thanks to an innovative vision and a concrete approach, PizzAut aims to expand its presence through the creation of a network of 15 food trucks in Lombardy by 2025, one for each provincial capital, with four vehicles destined for Milan.

The importance of collaboration with TEHA Group and DOT

TEHA Group, which has been working in the social sector since 2013 with the support of solidarity initiatives through DOT, has chosen to support the PizzAut project with the ambitious goal of bringing a food truck to Varese. Each food truck will employ five autistic people, offering them a job opportunity and promoting economic self-sufficiency, with significant savings for the state budget thanks to job integration.

A social and economic impact. With around 600,000 autistic people in Italy, of which only 1.7% work, work inclusion is a crucial step towards autonomy. The food truck project by PizzAut aims not only to offer an employment opportunity, but also to raise public awareness. Thanks to this initiative, TEHA Group e PizzAut demonstrate how solidarity can translate into tangible economic impacts, with an estimated saving of 100 million euros in 10 years for the state system.
