The events of the story began when the doctor spoke in a mocking tone, in a video clip that was widely circulated on social media platforms, about the experiences of a woman she treated who became pregnant outside of her ‘ marriage, using expressions that were considered hurtful and offensive. .

Angry reactions quickly mounted against the video, as social media users considered it a “violation of professional ethics”, accusing the doctor of revealing “patient secrets”. ,” even though she did not mention names or details that would reveal their identity.

In a related context, the General Syndicate of Physicians announced, on Tuesday, that they had received several complaints against the doctor, noting that these complaints accuse him of “being violates patient privacy and violates the rules of professional ethics.”

The union said in an official statement that it had submitted the complaints to the Professional Ethics Committee for investigation, stressing that it rejected any individual actions that would “damage the reputation of the profession”.

The union explained that “a doctor found to have engaged in activities that violate professional ethics may face penalties that include removal from the union’s roster, and thus be prevented from using medicine.”

The head of the Egyptian Society for Youth Support and Human Rights, Rabab Abdo, told Al-Hurra that the doctor “disclosed the confidentiality of her patients and went out of the context of her work as a doctor, and thus he violated Article 310 of the penalties, which states that any person who is a doctor, surgeon, pharmacist, midwife, or other person is liable. those in which the law requires him to contact him, he will be punished with imprisonment for a period not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding 500 Egyptian pounds.

In turn, the writer and women’s rights activist, Azza Kamel, in statements to Al-Hurra, requested that this doctor be withdrawn from practicing the profession, saying : “The doctor must keep the patients’ secrets, not revealing their secrets, problems, or misfortunes, and preserve their dignity and trust.”
