Among immense spaces, outdoor tourism and food and wine routes
Milan, 12 Nov. (askanews) – With its immense spaces, the roads that seem endless, the long beaches, nature, its deserts, Western Australia is the ideal destination for those who travel with a spirit of adventure and want to rediscover the pleasure of discovery, kilometer after kilometre, of different landscapes at every glimpse. In the westernmost state of Australia, an area eight times the size of Italy, the roads wind between the coast and the hinterland, interspersing natural panoramas with towns where you can stop for a break and breathe in the slow pace, far from the cities and the chaos of large tourist flows. There are two main routes in the southern region of the South West: The South West Wine & Nature Drive is a four-day road adventure that winds through scenic beaches, tall forests, ancient caves and food and wine spots between over 100 cellars and wineries, where it is possible to taste local products such as black truffles; the other, the South West Edge, takes between ten and fourteen days, covering over 1,200 kilometers of natural landscapes that alternate one after another along the journey from Perth to Esperance. The region is also a destination for sports and outdoor tourism , with its mountain bike routes and trekking trails on the famous Cape to Cape track, suitable for various levels. The area attracts those who love beaches and surfing, thanks to a white sand coastline, natural pools and its waves. To immerse yourself in the local culture, a visit to the Ngilgi Cave with an Aboriginal guide enriches the experience with his stories and the hypnotic sound of the didgeridoo. Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo, originally from of Western Australia and protagonist of the second season of Tourism Western Australia’s tourism promotion campaign “Drive The Dream”. “I feel at home in Western Australia, and that’s a great feeling,” says Ricciardo. He adds: “I have had many second homes around the world over the years. Europe is a big part of my life, but for me home is still Western Australia. That’s where I experience feelings of nostalgia and memories. It’s still a place that makes me smile, that’s why it’s really nice to go back.” “From a beauty point of view, I love the tall Karri trees… There are the forests – continues the pilot – then there is this beautiful coast. At times, quiet, pristine beaches and then, beyond a coral reef, these enormous waves that attract world-class surfers.” In addition to the experiences promoted by the campaign, the region is preparing to host Pair’d Margaret River Region, a new great food and wine event from 14 to 17 November. This first edition will offer tastings, dinners with starred chefs, culinary experiences in nature, live music and cultural moments to discover local excellence.
