A 1-ton truck traveling near Daejeon IC in the Busan direction of the Gyeongbu Expressway and Mokpo on the West Coast Expressway, a solar power facility in Hongnong-eup, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do, and Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju. Accidents and fires occurred at a crossroads, a road in Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, and the shoulder of a road in Sangha-myeon, Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do.
◆Electrical spark accident at a substation in Onsan-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan… 2 people burned
At around 2:04 p.m. on the 12th, an electric spark occurred during a panel inspection at Korea Zinc Substation 1, Onsan-eup, Ulju-gun, Ulsan.
Two workers suffered burns in this accident and were taken to the hospital.
The fire department and police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident after completing safety measures at the scene.
◆Successive highway accidents in Daejeon and Boryeong… 2 people injured
At around 3:48 pm on the 12th, a trailer carrying landscaping stones crashed into the median near Daejeon IC on the Gyeongbu Expressway toward Busan.
The driver, Mr. A, in his 60s, was not seriously injured in this accident, but landscaping stones fell here and there on the road, which almost led to a secondary accident.
Earlier on this day, at around 2:47 p.m., an accident occurred in which a tire burst on a 1-ton truck traveling in the direction of Mokpo on the West Coast Expressway in Jooju-myeon, Boryeong, South Chungcheong Province.
Although the accident did not result in the truck overturning, the driver, Mr. B, in his 60s, was injured and taken to the hospital.
While the vehicle lost its balance and swayed, the loaded tiles spilled onto the road, causing traffic congestion in a 1km section for about 50 minutes.
Police are investigating the details of both accidents.
◆Fire at a solar power facility in Hongnong-eup, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do… no casualties
At around 3:28 pm on the 12th, a fire broke out at a solar power facility in Hongnong-eup, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do.
Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Because it was a battery fire that was not easy to extinguish, the fire was extinguished in about 5 hours.
Fire authorities believe the fire was caused by a short circuit in the battery.
◆1-ton truck-bicycle collision at Jeongjeongol intersection, Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju… 1 person transported due to cardiac arrest
At around 5:54 p.m. on the 12th, an accident occurred where a teenage male student riding a bicycle was hit by a 1-ton truck driven by a driver in his 50s at the Jeongjeongol intersection in Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju.
The male student who was seriously injured in this accident was taken to the hospital in cardiac arrest.
It was confirmed that the truck driver was not drunk at the time.
Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
◆Car-pedestrian collision on a road in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province…1 person dead
At around 6 pm on the 12th, an accident occurred on a road in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, killing Mr. B, in his 90s, after being hit by a car driven by Mr. A, a professional soldier in his 20s.
The accident occurred on this day when Mr. A’s vehicle, which was driving in the first lane of the two-lane one-way road in the direction of Gamgok leading to Onam Intersection in Janghowon-eup, hit Mr. B, who was crossing the road.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
◆ Died after being hit by a car in his 60s while walking on the shoulder of a road in Sangha-myeon, Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do.
At around 6:10 pm on the 12th, an accident occurred in which Mr. B, in his 60s, was hit and killed by a car (driver A, in his 20s) while walking on the shoulder of a road in Sangha-myeon, Gochang-gun, Jeollabuk-do.
The police believe that Mr. A caused the accident while driving in the dark without seeing Mr. B, who was walking on the shoulder of the road.
After investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, the police plan to book Mr. A on charges of causing death under the Special Act on Traffic Accidents.
