A 49-year-old man was stabbed to death this Tuesday in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), in the Bourg-l’Évesque district. The events occurred shortly before 12:30 p.m., in rue Papu, in front of the Marie Heurtaut residence, which houses a relay house of the “Habitat et Humanisme” association, indicates a source close to the case, confirming information from West France. Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, the man died on the spot.
According to initial information, the murder occurred after an altercation between two men. The attacker, who stabbed the victim in the back, fled and is currently being sought by the police. The police continued their findings at the crime scene around 2 p.m.
The victim, whose life path included social reintegration, lived in the Marie-Heurtaut residence, an establishment managed by the same association, which houses 18 people in very precarious situations, specifies France Blue. The exact circumstances of the attack remain to be clarified. Police officers from the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS) were responsible for the investigations.

Two other murders in the same area this year
It is on this same street that a 47-year-old man was brutally killed in an apartment last January. In this case, three suspects, two men and a woman, were indicted for murder preceded by rape with acts of torture or barbarity, and aggravated violence. More recently last June, in the same neighborhood, a 47-year-old man was killed with 16 stab wounds in a butcher’s shop. The owner of the establishment and his brother were indicted for murder.
