The UK may have to send troops to Ukraine if Donald Trump cuts funding to Kiev once he takes office. This was stated by former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, quoted by “Focus”.
He stressed that support for Ukraine is crucial to ensure that Russia does not threaten other European countries.
According to Johnson, if Ukraine “collapses”, it will lead to “an even greater threat on our borders, on the borders of the European continent, wherever democracies collide with Russia”.
The former British Prime Minister emphasized the potential risks for the Baltic states and Georgia, pointing out that a possible defeat of Ukraine would have far-reaching consequences for the whole of Europe. He also warned that in that case Britain’s defense spending would increase significantly compared to current support for Ukraine.
Johnson stressed that the consequences of a possible defeat of Ukraine would go beyond the borders of Europe and affect security in the Pacific region and the South China Sea.
“There are many different voices on Donald Trump’s team, and there is a front in the Republican Party that is taking the wrong position on Ukraine,” Johnson added.
