In an exciting and balanced encounter, Mario Huber gave the guests from Salzburg the lead in the 26th minute when they were outnumbered. However, the Finnish hosts responded promptly: Just three minutes later, Lars Bryggman equalized for the twelfth-placed team in the Liiga.
Salzburg then appeared a little more dominant and created several good chances. In the 45th minute, Troy Bourke finally gave the Red Bulls the lead again. This time Salzburg held firm and secured an excellent starting position for the second leg on Wednesday, November 20th.
The Lahti Pelicans are one of the established teams in the Finnish Liiga and have repeatedly performed strongly in recent years. After reaching third place in the Liiga under coach Ville Nieminen in 2018/2019, the Pelicans qualified for the CHL for the first time.
CHL Playoff-Modus
