Customized doors are one of those details that make a car design truly memorable. We have compiled a ranking of cars with the most unusual doors ever to appear in the history of the automotive industry.

First on the list is the famous Mercedes-Benz 300 SL sports car, produced in the 1950s and 1960s. Due to the nature of the frame, it was impossible to install normal doors, so engineers came up with a revolutionary solution – doors with hinges on the top, called Gullwing or “gull wing”.
