Four years of AImotion Bavaria – a success story with a vision

AImotion Bavaria presented autonomous vehicles and innovative AI projects at its anniversary event. More than 150 guests from politics and business were given an insight into the research work of the institute, which has established itself as an important innovation driver in the region over the past four years.

The autonomous vacuum cleaner R10D10, the research vehicles Sissi and Franz equipped with innovative sensors and other exhibits attracted the attention of more than 150 guests in the auditorium of the Ingolstadt University of Technology. They and many other exhibits showed the breadth and depth of the AImotion Institute Bavaria’s research work and gave visitors a fascinating insight into the world of AI.

Over the past four years, the AImotion Institute Bavaria has become an important driver of innovation in the sector. The institute’s research projects cover a wide range of subjects and areas of technology. In addition to mobility focus such as autonomous driving, unmanned flight and traffic flow control, the scientists will also focus on digital production, digital commerce and medical applications.

In addition to these areas of application there is basic research on AI technologies such as computer vision and language processing, always with the aim of maximizing the direct benefit to society. This approach is also reflected in the active transfer of research results to practice and the study of ethical questions about artificial intelligence.

THI President Professor Walter Schober confirmed: “To be appointed as an AI center as part of the Bavarian High Technology Agenda, which is unique in Europe, is a special honor for THI. With 110 scientists at the moment, we are an important KU center in Germany.

Professor Michael Botsch, scientific director of AImotion, emphasized the diversity of current projects, including urban air mobility, autonomous driving and digital production. He specifically built on the AI ​​center’s lighthouse project.

Dr. Christian Lösel, Managing Director of AImotion, presented the institute’s participation in the International Building Exhibition of the European Metropolitan Region in Munich, to which Ingolstadt belongs, under the motto “Spaces of Mobility”.

After the speeches, the guests took the opportunity to experience the innovative projects for themselves in the auditorium.
