Evolution of acute respiratory infections, influenza and COVID-19 in the county of Satu Mare

Between November 4-10, 2024, the county of Satu Mare registered a total of 1,131 cases of acute respiratory infections (IACRS), pneumonia and influenza, according to data reported by family physicians. Of these, 870 cases they were from acute respiratory diseases, 167 cases of pneumonia and 94 cases of the flu.

Details by age group

The distribution of cases by age group was as follows:

  • 0-1 the: 93 IACRS cases, 3 pneumonia cases, 5 influenza cases
  • 2-4 years: 137 IACRS cases, 12 pneumonia cases, 16 influenza cases
  • 5-14 years: 200 IACRS cases, 10 pneumonia cases, 29 influenza cases
  • 15-49 years: 296 IACRS cases, 48 ​​pneumonia cases, 37 influenza cases
  • 50-64 years: 73 IACRS cases, 39 pneumonia cases, 10 influenza cases
  • Over 65 years: 71 IACRS cases, 55 pneumonia cases, 7 influenza cases

Event rates

The highest incidence rates were recorded in the following age groups:

  • Acute respiratory infections (IACRS): Age group 15-49 years with an event of 0.78%.
  • Smallpox: Age group over 65 years with an incident of 0.14%.
  • Influenza: Age group too 15-49 years which had the highest incidence, of 0.09%.

The influenza vaccine

Until the date November 10, 2024they were vaccinated against influenza 9,239 people from risk groups, the vaccine being administered under the supervision of family doctors.

The COVID-19 situation in Satu Mare County

Regarding the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 virus infections, the intensity of COVID-19 in Satu Mare County is currently low. In the week of November 4-10, 2024, they were confirmed 13 positive cases of COVID-19. Compared to previous weeks, the number of cases was very low, and the situation was being monitored to stabilize:

  • 30.09-06.10.2024: 47 cases
  • 07.10-13.10.2024: 20 cases
  • 14.10-20.10.2024: 13 cases
  • 21.10-27.10.2024: 18 cases
  • 28.10-03.11.2024: 4 cases
  • 04.11-10.11.2024: 13 cases

In the context of a decrease in the number of cases of COVID-19, but also as the flu season appeared with a large number of cases, it is important that citizens remain vigilant and follow the recommendations of the authorities to protect the flu public health.
