“Christian and I have been working closely and in a reliable way for a long time,” Wohlgemuth said a few weeks ago. Wohlgemuth himself took over as sporting director from Sven Mislintat in December 2022.
Gentner trained as a player at VfB and won the German championship with the club in 2007. After further stints at VfL Wolfsburg, Union Berlin and in Lucerne, Gentner ended his active career in 2023.
