US President Joe Biden will receive Donald Trump, who is set to succeed him in the White House in January, on Wednesday at 18:00 (Greece time) in the Oval Office, his spokesperson Karin Jean-Pierre announced today.
Joe Biden pledged Thursday to ensure a “peaceful and orderly” transition of power to the Republican, who beat Democrat Kamala Harris in Tuesday’s election.
The two men are going to prepare the arrival of the next Trump administration, in which figures such as entrepreneur Elon Musk or Robert F. Kennedy Jr. may take on important roles.
This meeting had been announced, but until now the date had not been specified.
Donald Trump, who has never conceded defeat in 2020 and boycotted Joe Biden’s inauguration, said Thursday he was “looking forward to this meeting” at the White House, according to his team.
The real estate tycoon, the target of two assassination attempts on the campaign trail and has been charged and convicted in both criminal and civil courts, has 74 days to form his governing team.
The Republican on Thursday made his first major appointment: Susie Wiles, an architect of his campaign, will be his chief of staff, a highly strategic position that has never been held by a woman before.
