The Israeli army announced on Tuesday the opening of a new route for humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip following American pressure.

The army said in a statement, “Today (Tuesday) the Kissufim crossing was opened to transport humanitarian aid trucks.” According to the statement, “The aid entered the Gaza Strip after strict security checks at the Kerem Shalom crossing by security personnel attached to the border crossings authority of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.”

The aid entry process includes the delivery of “food, water, medical supplies and shelter equipment to central and southern Gaza Strip,” according to the statement.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog is expected to meet Tuesday with US President Joe Biden at the White House.
