G7 Tourism in Florence from 13 to 15 November • Nine from Florence

Tourism at the center of the world stage. Florence hosts the first G7 dedicated to the sector.

The Tuscan capital will host the first G7 entirely dedicated to tourism from 13 to 15 November, with the aim of defining a common strategy for the future of the sector. Minister Daniela Santanchè will chair the work sessions, which will see the participation of ministers and heads of delegations from Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and the European Union.

The topics that will be addressed will mainly concern sustainability, inclusion and digitalisation, with a focus on the impact of artificial intelligence.

The Ministry of Tourism, equipped with a clear industrial vision, through the Strategic Plan of the sector, acts as a driving force in giving the sector the right political recognition, in consideration of its economic, social and cultural importance.

The G7 Tourism in Florence will not only be a summit between political and institutional authorities, but a crucial opportunity to face the challenges of the future, towards an increasingly sustainable tourism ecosystem model.

On November 13th, before the official start, starting from 3 pm in Palazzo Spini Feroni, the introductory event “Innovation, inspiration and sustainability. Visions for the future of tourism”, in which the meeting and dialogue will be promoted between prestigious interpreters of the ongoing technological revolution – that of AI – with visionary entrepreneurs who are investing in Italian tourism, also from other sectors, bringing it towards a new dimension of sustainability and quality in the direction of the economic and social development of our nation. It will be an opportunity to celebrate the talent and skills of the Italian system, capable of innovating and attracting travelers from all over the world.

The agenda of the ministerial meeting, starting on November 14, will focus on three priorities: tourism as a driving force for socio-economic development, with particular attention to growth opportunities for local communities; the valorization of human capital, with a focus on work, inclusion and skills, to guarantee a tourism sector that offers opportunities to all; and finally, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, exploring the potential of these technologies to make tourism more efficient, sustainable and inclusive.

The importance of valorising lesser-known destinations and sustainable forms of tourist mobility, among the topics discussed by the G7 ministers, will be concretely demonstrated, at the end of the first day of work, by the journey to the village of Monteriggioni. An excursion that will allow guests to live an evocative experience in the most authentic Italy, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of a bygone time, and to discover the charm of a place rich in history and tradition.

Another aspect that will make the G7 Tourism particularly interesting is the new connotation that we want to give to the event. In fact, we are not limited to a simple meeting and discussion between counterparts in the sector, but we aim to offer a true laboratory of ideas for the future of the sector. The aim is to redefine the role of the sector, not only as an engine of economic growth, but also as a tool for social development and a promoter of peace.
