A car driver collided with a pedestrian in the center of Salo on Friday evening at 10:30 p.m.
The pedestrian was crossing the crosswalk at the intersection of Helsingintie and Rummunlyöjänkatu. A motorist collided with a pedestrian, who was thrown to the ground by the force of the collision through the bonnet and roof.
The driver did not stay to check the condition of the seriously injured pedestrian, who was left on the ground, but fled the scene without stopping, the police informs.
The police arrested the driver later. The police suspect him of grossly endangering traffic safety, gross injury and evading traffic in road traffic.
Crime Commissioner Jukka Kyynäräinen does not agree to comment on the driver’s age or gender. The driver was not intoxicated, he says.
The crimes may become more specific as the investigation progresses.
